Need to rescheudle? Communicate with your artist about any scheduling conflicts that might've come up, and they'll do their best to work with you.

+ What happens if I cancel late or miss my appointment?

If you cancel your appointment within 72 hours of the date/time or if do not show up at all, you will lose your deposit, even if you purchased Cancellation Insurance. Sometimes, unexpected life events can happen; so it's always important to communicate with your artist about the sudden cancellation or change.

Tattd's Cancellation Insurance does not cover appointment cancelations that occur within 72 hours of the appointment, or missed appointments.

** General Tattoo Questions**

+ What is a deposit and how is it used?

Deposits are necessary to secure your tattoo appointment. While booking your appointment, the artist will request you pay this deposit in order to secure the date and time agreed upon. Deposits go towards the total cost of your tattoo. The cost of the deposit varies by artist, but you can always expect to submit a deposit to get your name on their books officially.

+ How long will my tattoo appointment take?

The duration of your tattoo appointment relies on a variety of factors regarding the tattoo and beyond. The tattoo's style, size, and color palette will affect the completion time of your tattoo greatly. Other factors such as taking breaks can also add to the length of your appointment.

At the time of booking, your artist will give you an estimated appointment duration based on the design itself. If your design happens to be more intense, the artist might request that additional sessions take place after the initial appointment.

+ What are the different Tattoo styles?

There are 28 Styles listed on Tattd! Feel free to browse the Ink tab so see examples of what they are, or if you're looking to read a breif overview of each tattoo Style, check out: Tattd's Guide to the Many Different Types and Styles of Tattoos.

+ How should I prepare for my appointment?

Preparing for your appointment is one of the most important parts of the process, and should be taken seriously to ensure safety and comfortability. Make sure you are well-rested, and that you eat a substantial meal 2-3 hours prior to your tattoo. Do not consume alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment. When planning an outfit for the day, keep it comfortable and practical, based on the location of the tattoo.

If desired, you can bring entertainment, such as music to your appointment to help pass the time. Please feel free to ask the tattooer if you require any additional accomodations for an optimal tattoo experience.

+ When will I receive a sketch of my tattoo design?

In most cases, artists will provide a sketch of the tattoo design once you arrive to the studio for your appointment. During this time, you're able to request that the tattooer makes small adjustments to the design before you hop in the chair. Usually only 1-2 revisions are allowed, but always work with your Artist to come to a great end result that you feel good about.

** Payments, Refunds & More **

+ I don't like my tattoo. Can I get a refund?

We are unable to refund the deposit and/or cost of the tattoo once it has been completed. If there's a technical application issue; such as patchy colorwork or a jagged line, your artist more than likely will be able to fix it upon your request. Typically "touch-ups" within the first 3 months after your appointment are free, but each tattooer creates their own policy.

+ What insurances does Tattd offer and how can I submit a claim?

Click here to learn more about Tattd's insurance policy and submit a claim! We're here to make sure you're obsessed with your tattoo, and will do everything in our power to make sure any less-than-perfect experience is addressed.

+ How do I pay my artists for my remaining balance?

Paying the remaining balance of your tattoo occurs on the day of your appointment, after the tattoo has been completed. This payment occurs outside of Tattd, and its conditions are set by the artist based on their preferences/policies. In most cases, you will be paying with cash or card. Some artists/studios will charge an extra fee if you pay with a credit card, so always be mindful of that.

To find out your artist's preferred payment methood, ask them at the time of booking your appointment to ensure you're bringing the right payment materials with you.

Note: Tip your artists!!! 15-20% is typical, but of course it's up to you. Just know that it's not included in the tattoo cost.

+ My tattoo looks infected. What should I do?

Tattoo infections are no joke, and should be treated very seriously to ensure the infection doesn't spread to other parts of your body. Infections in tattoos often stem from an unsanitary environment presented by the tattoo artist; but a tattoo can also become infected from improper aftercare by the client. The most common signs of a tattoo infection include:

  • Painful swelling in the tattooed area

  • Bumps on or below the skin's surface that contain pus

  • A fever and/or swollen lymph nodes

If you have any of these symptoms, consult a doctor or dermatologist to eliminate the infection immediately. Also alert your Artist so they're aware. In the event of an infection, you are elligible to request a partial or full refund by submitting a claim to Tattd for investigation.

Note: Sometimes, tattoos look pretty gnarly as they're healing. If you're on the fence, you can always consult your Artist or review this guide to see if you're experiencing something out of the ordinary.

+What is the customary amount to tip a tattoo artist?

In the industry, it is customary to tip between 15-20% of the total cost of your tattoo. Of course, you can adjust this amount based on your own budget, but it's highly encouraged to show your artist a little love with some extra cash!
